We have a new student in Grade 7, Akram Aykour, and wish him well with his studies and hope that he finds his new school welcoming and enjoyable. Building work on the extension to the SLS has begun\u00a0over the break and much of the foundations are already complete. There has been little sign of any noise disruption so far, which\u00a0we hope continues.<\/p>\n<p>In the second\u00a0part of the school year, we focus more on student independence and encourage this through outward bound activities like Oman Week and other sporting challenges that help students test themselves and overcome their fears. We also encourage students to initiate and lead CAS projects as a way of developing leadership skills.\u00a0Much of our\u00a0focus is on Grade 7 , who we encourage to take more control of their learning by\u00a0being organised and prepared, especially at the start of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s some dates for your diary:<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday Jan 13 &#8211; we are having our Explore Oman information evening for grades 7 to 9.\u00a0Please come and find out about the trips your children will be involved in.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday Jan 22 &#8211; annual Sports Day &#8211; over at Sohar Aluminium&#8217;s grounds &#8211; please join us<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday Jan 28 &#8211; our Secondary Students will be performing at our first\u00a0Cabaret. This is a new event\u00a0and we are very excited about it.
