During English class we have identified the techniques used in speech writing and in making speeches. \u00a0We have analyzed speeches made by important people, including present day social activists and figures from history. \u00a0Next week students will be completing a formative assessment where they will be writing an analysis of a speech that Malala made to the United Nations. \u00a0 We will complete \u00a0the unit by students creating and giving their own speeches.<\/p>\n
In Individuals and societies students have continued their inquiry into ancient civilizations. \u00a0We have analyzed sources from the past looking at origins, purpose, value and limitations. \u00a0 Students have been investigating specific ancient civilizations. \u00a0They have worked in groups to identify questions, research and create a presentation. \u00a0 The results of this work will be shared next week.<\/p>\n

Recently the ABIS library has seen an influx of library books that are coming back after having been checked out up to 3 years ago! There are many books that are still missing from the library. Please take the time in the next few weeks, or during the upcoming winter break, to look through your bookshelves and children’s rooms for any ABIS library books. They may have ABIS stamps inside or out, an ABIS barcode on the back cover and\/or a library spine label. We are working hard in the library to have all books marked consistently so that our users are able to locate the books they need as quickly as possible.
