There are social\/emotional benefits, as well as leadership and listening skills, teamwork, and building confidence and self-discipline. And some studies show that playing in a musical ensemble has cognitive benefits that transfer into other areas of learning. Students who learn to play an instrument or sing in a group can increase their reading fluency and language skills, as well has show improvement in their understanding of mathematics! <br \/><br \/>These Grad 5-8 students have shown great resiliency this term. Some of them are continuing to learn the same instrument from previous years while others are just beginning.
