Lizzy has recently completed her first two prints, which were made in homage to two existing works by K\u00e4the Kollwitz and Edward Hopper. After reflecting on this process, she is taking her ideas a bit further and making a third piece that will be more uniquely hers.<\/p>\n

Along the way, she has discovered her own method for transferring a pencil drawing to a piece of linoleum for carving, and has made other important observations about what works and what doesn’t. Lizzy is also improving her technique and practicing making clean prints without smudging the oil-based ink. She plans to combine this process with that of cyanotype, or sun printing, to create the next artwork.<\/p>\n

By the end of the two-year program, students will select finished artworks to show off as part of their exhibition. Their planning, sketches, tests, reflections, and other sketchbook evidence will be turned into a process portfolio. The IB looks for in-depth exploration of ideas as well as technical mastery of the materials that are chosen. Lizzy has done very well in both areas and is well on her way toward meeting these challenging requirements!<\/p>\n
