This novel of historical fiction by the renowned teen author Avi is about a boy living in medieval times in England. It is an outstanding portrait of life in the Middle Ages, told from the point of view of a peasant, rather than the usual knight or monarch of Hollywood treatment.<\/p>\n<p>As we read this novel together, students will examining feudalism (structure of society), the role of religion, and, ultimately, human rights during this crucial period. <\/p>\n<p>I invite you to converse with your child about the book. What are they learning from the story?
