To be persuasive, we must give solid proof about our opinions to get others to see things our way. To practice, we are trying to persuade each other to choose the book we want for Ms. Fitch to read to the class. To do this, we need to use our Prior Knowledge reading skills&#8230;learning as much about the book as we can without actually reading it! By looking at the covers, she decided that this book is going to be great!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/20140120-100758.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-src=\"http:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/20140120-100758.jpg\" alt=\"20140120-100758.jpg\" class=\"alignnone size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nBut just saying a book is great is not good enough! We have to <strong>prove <\/strong> it. To prove what we think, we have to explain  <strong>what<\/strong> we think, <strong>why<\/strong> we think it and  <strong>how<\/strong> we know. This is called the What-Why-How strategy. We can use this when we are writing, speaking, evaluating&#8230;.and persuading!
