{"id":169466,"date":"2019-04-11T09:20:59","date_gmt":"2019-04-11T05:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/?p=169466"},"modified":"2019-04-11T09:21:07","modified_gmt":"2019-04-11T05:21:07","slug":"student-led-conferences-on-april-16th-400-pm-700-pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/2019\/04\/11\/student-led-conferences-on-april-16th-400-pm-700-pm\/","title":{"rendered":"Student-led Conferences on April 16th, 4:00 pm &#8211; 7:00 pm"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Dear Parents,<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>The Student Led Conferences is on Tuesday, the 16th of April 2019.<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>What is a Student Led Conference (SLC)?<\/h6>\n<h6>For those who are new to ABIS, an SLC enables students to take the lead in discussing their own learning and goals. Advisors\/Teachers are present in the room but are not part of the discussion. If parents wish to meet with teachers, they are advised to make a separate appointment at a later date. Teachers may also request a separate meeting with parents. Stu- dent led conferences are conducted with more than one family in a space and with an allotted time of 20 minutes. Siblings are asked to stay in the library area of each building or for parents to make other arrangements.<\/h6>\n<h6>Grades 10 and 12 students will be on a different schedule from the rest of the school. The DP and IGCSE coordinators will be speaking to Gr 10 and 12 parents from 6:00 \u2013 7:00 pm to ensure that everyone is aware of the expectations regarding the upcoming exams. There will be a presentation (about 30 minutes) and a question and answer session (5-10 minutes). Afterward, students will present their study planners and a few areas where they need support.<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>Progress Reports are also due on Monday, the 15th of April: The progress report will ONLY be sent home to parents if the following criteria apply:<\/h6>\n<h6>\u2022Your child is new to the school (more than 9 weeks attendance)<\/h6>\n<h6>\u2022Your child has had some ongoing support structures in place and regular reports are re- quired<\/h6>\n<h6>\u2022Your child has shown a marked change \u2013 either positive or negative \u2013 in their academic progress.<\/h6>\n<h6>Students not fitting these criteria will not have a report during mid semester as the Student Led Conferences are in-depth and extensive.<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>How to sign up for a Student Led Conference:<\/h6>\n<h6>You can book appointments using this link:<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>PRIMARY: <a href=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/primary-appointments\">https:\/\/abisoman.com\/broadcaster\/primary-appointments<\/a><\/h6>\n<h6>SECONDARY: <a href=\"https:\/\/abisoman.com\/secondary-appointments\">https:\/\/abisoman.com\/secondary-appointments<\/a><br \/>\n<\/h6>\n<h6>You will need to enter the password &#8220;parents&#8221; to access the broadcaster.<\/h6>\n<h6>This will bring you to a page where you can select your advisor&#8217;s\/classroom teacher\u2019s name and book an appointment between 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.<\/h6>\n<h6>If you experience any problems, please email Mr. Atul (a.alex@abisoman.com)<\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>This is a special time for your child to share their learning with you.
