It has been rather a hectic week with students working on meeting deadlines, and participating in some competitions. Our Grades 10 have risen to the challenge of submitting their final version of their Global Perspectives Individual Research report last Wednesday. Grades 7 and 8 are in the middle of constructing their roller coaster which will be due in two weeks\u2019 time.<\/p>\n

For new parents, you have received either a phone call or an email from your child\u2019s advisor to give you an update of how your child is settling in at ABIS.<\/p>\n

For our Grade 12 students, we have started their one-on-one Skype counseling sessions with Mr. Jeremy Hancock. Aside from the in-house support being provided by Career Advisor, Ms. Liz Jurkowski, we have hired a consultant to provide individual consultation to our Grades 11 and 12 students regarding the universities they are interested in applying, as well as to support them in writing strong personal statements. It would be beneficial if parents could have discussions with their children regarding their own job or career so that they could develop an understanding on what it is like to be employed on a full-time basis and the \u201cworld of work\u201d are important in career decision making.<\/p>\n

Good news<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 Gr 12 Ziad has been chosen to participate in RCSI Bahrain\u2019s Future Doctors programme for secondary students in November. Ziad will have an opportunity to gain an insight into the life of a medical student and life as a doctor by participating in interactive workshops comprising of basic medical sciences and clinical facilitated by both clinical practitioners and RCSI Bahrain alumni.<\/p>\n

Grade 8 students are learning some breathing techniques to reduce pressure and stress, and increase concentration with Ms. Briar.<\/p><\/div>\n
