Students were introduced to some new songs and musical activities this week. The first song is called Funga Alafia, a folk song from West Africa. The song translates to “Welcome my friends, I greet you in peace.” We used a call and response activity to learn the words and then put together a short dance. The students enjoyed the song and many left the class singing the words.
Ms Maeve visited the K1 music class and was impressed by how the students engaged in the activities. We reinforced the beat by playing some games the K1 students enjoy.
During K2 PE this week the students learnt a new skill. Dodging is used in many sports to get around a member of the apposing side. The students learnt the skill quickly and showed how they can kick a ball into the goal.
