Organisation

Al Batinah International School (ABIS) was set up for years ago by Sohar Aluminium to meet the growing demand for quality international education primarily for expatriate students in the Al Batinah Region of Oman.

The Head of School, Neil Tomalin, leads school and works with a Board consisting of representatives from the parent body and Sohar Aluminium on matters related to strategic planning.

The school is authorised by the Omani Ministry of Education, the International Baccalaureate Organisation for the Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) and is accredited by Cambridge University to offer the IGCSE programme and examinations. We are also members of the Council of International Schools.

We currently enroll students from K1 to Grade 10 and the school has three sections. The Early Years Centre accommodates students in Kindergarten to Grade 2. The Primary Years focuses around the needs of students from Grades 3 to 6. Both of these sections offer the IBPYP.

Our Middle Years section works with the students from Grade 7 to 10 and culminates in the IGCSE Examinations.

We are planning to launch the IB Diploma Programme starting in the academic year 2013/14.
